We have two prizes up for grabs: tallest sunflower and largest flower head. Winners will be crowned at the end of the Summer.
Sunflower growing instructions
Sow your sunflower in individual pots of moist compost in April/May, cover with cling film and place on a sunny windowsill or greenhouse bench.
Remove the cling film once the seeds have germinated, and water plants regularly, allowing the water to drain. Pot on into larger pots with multipurpose compost, before eventually planting outside once all risk of frost has passed. You may need to stake tall plants in exposed gardens with a bamboo cane.
